SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
GENERAL:
Prime Number Magazine is an online-only journal that appears every four months (Jan, May, Sept) and seeks to publish distinctive poetry and short fiction, regardless of theme, form, or style. Contributors will include both emerging and established writers as selected by our guest editors.
SUBMISSIONS:
Submissions for poetry and short fiction are open the first two months of each quadrimester (Jan-Feb; May-Jun; Sept-Oct).
For each issue we introduce a new set of guest editors who will be reading for a future issue. To see who is currently reading, go to our Submittable page.
We will only accept submissions uploaded through Submittable. Submissions sent as attachments by email will not be considered.
Only original, unpublished works will be considered. Works considered previously published include anything self-published or shared on Facebook or other social media.
Simultaneous submissions are welcome, but please withdraw your submission immediately if the work is accepted elsewhere.
Please limit your submissions to one poem or one short story per submission period. Since we allow for simultaneous submissions, this saves our editors any confusion or frustration should a story or poem be accepted elsewhere.
We will respond to submissions within five months. Poems and short stories accepted for publication will appear in Prime Number Magazine within six months of acceptance.
PAYMENT:
Contributors living in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia will receive one copy of the respective guest editor's book published by Press 53; contributors living in other countries outside the United States will receive publication as compensation. (Our printer has facilities in the United Kingdom and Australia, which is why we can include those countries.)
RIGHTS:
Contributors will grant, via a simple agreement, First Worldwide Serial Rights, including perpetual archiving. All other rights revert to the author upon publication. The author retains the copyright to their work and may republish the poem or story elsewhere without permission once the work has appeared in Prime Number Magazine.
